What pay would you be happy with?
As for underutilisation- I face that too, but it comes with working with your crazy trinis. But I do have a job that seriously challenges my critical thinking skills I want to palm off, send me an email if you are interested.
Limited access to cutting edge technology - the fact is that Trinidad cannot afford development trials.

My post really was a "whine," because I am well aware that professionals all over the world in other fields face the same issues.
In addition to the obvious "L" title, persons like me can be known as: information professionals / specialists, knowledge workers, researchers.
I live comfortably (unmarried and at home with my parents) on my "small" salary, so the pay concerns are more about pride than anything else. That is, earning like my equally qualified counterparts in similar fields (TT$10000-$12000/mth).
T&T's wider society has little understanding of the work and therefore of the value of my profession (something that the profession itself needs to work on in the way of promotion, marketing, and even in how we carry out our day-to-day tasks).
Furthermore, I work for a statutory body and my class of professionals currently have no trade union representation.
That salary raise is a long way in coming.
The real issue, however, is that there is a serious shortage of information professionals and many of those who are currently employed will soon be retiring. The government sponsors the tertiary education of persons interested in the profession, we return to serve out our contract, but the salary and working conditions are such that many of us are unwilling to stay in the public sector after the contract ends. The shortage continues.
